(1) When using continuously, it is advisable to gradually increase the resistance to maintain a long service life.

(2) Parallel connection is recommended whenever possible. If the resistance values of silicon carbide rods differ, connecting them in series may cause concentrated load on the higher resistance rod, leading to rapid resistance increase and shortened lifespan.   

(3) Temperature distribution characteristics: The inspection standard for new products requires that the temperature variation within the effective heating length should be within Δ60°C to qualify. Of course, temperature distribution tends to widen with aging and may eventually reach 200°C. Specific temperature distribution changes also vary depending on the furnace atmosphere and usage conditions.

(4) After being heated in air, a dense silicon oxide film forms on the surface, creating an anti-oxidation protective layer that helps extend the service life. In recent years, various coatings have been developed to prevent degradation, making them suitable for furnaces with various gases.

(5) The greater the current applied to the silicon carbide rod, the higher the surface temperature. It is recommended to use the smallest possible surface load density (power). Please note that the values indicated for the cold end correspond to current and voltage at 1000°C in air and may not necessarily match actual usage conditions. Generally, surface power is determined based on the relationship between furnace temperature and surface temperature. It is advisable to use a surface power (W/cm²) value that is 1/2 to 1/3 of the maximum density limit.
